Foundation for Democracy in Africa: Spring and Summer Interns

The internship is with FDA, the Foundation for Democracy in Africa (FDA). FDA offers a unique opportunity to support a variety of US- Africa, policy, trade and economic related programs and projects. Our interns gain hands on experience by assisting with the development and execution of policy, programs, conferences, trade missions, marketing and advocacy.   We are currently seeking Interns for our Spring Conference, and Summer. See additional job description and responsibilities below:   

Africa Trade Development Center is the international trade and commerce of the Foundation for Democracy in Africa. ATDC works closely with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from across the African Continent, providing Distribution Support and serving as a trade resource for businesses interested in expanding their trade to the U.S., Latin America, Africa and the Caribbeans.

Intern for Spring Conference – Washington, DC 

Duration: March 19 -April 19, 2019

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Help organize and execute Spring event
  • Coordinate Speaker participation
  • Provide register support
  • Edit and compile conference materials
  • E-marketing, for the event
  • Assist with social media management

Skills and Attributes:

  • Organized, with attention for detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who is not afraid to take initiative
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Social Media

 

Summer Interns – Washington, DC (1 Intern) and Miami (3 Interns)

Duration: May 20 – October 1, 2019

  • Help develop, organize and execute events and projects
  • Researching, and writing content for programs
  • Uploading and posting photos, and content for websites, social media, and e-marketing, etc.
  • Attending meetings with development agencies and partners, hearings on Capitol Hill (DC only) and writing reports
  • Assist with social media management
  • Conducting Telemarketing and telephone surveys

Skills and Attributes:

  • Organized, with attention for detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who is not afraid to take initiative
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Social Media

The Foundation for Democracy in Africa (FDA) is a development organization committed to promoting participatory democracy, economic growth and sustainable development throughout Africa.  Founded in 1994, FDA is a 501 c 3 not for profit, non-governmental, non-partisan institution headquartered in Washington, DC with offices in Miami, Florida, USA.
